Rug Repair & Restoration in Tulsa, OK.
Antique and heirloom rug repair for Tulsa's oil-era homes and modern collections. Hand-finished work, since 1881.
Continuously serving rug owners since 1881, the oldest rug cleaner and repair workshop in the region.
Same family, same standards. Four generations of hands-on experience and shared craft.
Listed by the Oriental Rug Buyers Guide as one of the country's top rug cleaners and repair shops.
Accredited member of the Better Business Bureau, Memphis chapter.
Tulsa has more important pre-war oriental rug collections than any other city in Oklahoma. The oil-era mansions in Maple Ridge, the Brookside neighborhoods, and the streets around Utica Square hold pieces brought back from major buying trips a century ago. When those rugs need repair, they need a workshop with the experience to handle museum-quality and antique pieces — not a generic chain operation.
Fred Remmers Rug Cleaners has been doing oriental rug repair since 1881. Four generations of training. We routinely repair antique Persian, Turkish, Caucasian, and Chinese pieces appraised in the five and six figures, and we have done this work for Tulsa families for decades.
Every type of repair: reweaving for missing pile, patching for tears and burns, binding and serging for worn edges, overcasting for damaged fringes, and color restoration for faded or run dyes. Free pick-up across the Tulsa metro and Northeast Oklahoma — written estimate before any work begins.
Hand reweaving for Tulsa rugs.
The Art Deco mansions of Maple Ridge and the historic homes around Utica Square hold some of Tulsa's finest antique rugs — and after decades of use, many need attention. We repair worn fringes, moth and pet damage, unraveling edges, and holes by hand, reweaving each piece so the repair blends seamlessly into the original, whether it's a treasured Persian in Midtown or a kilim in Brookside.
Free pick-up and delivery covers Tulsa, Rogers, Wagoner, Osage, and Creek counties — Broken Arrow, Owasso, Bixby, Jenks, Sand Springs, and beyond — so a fragile antique never has to be shipped away. Call (918) 973-5460 and we'll assess exactly what your rug needs before any work begins.
Why Tulsa trusts Fred Remmers for repair.
Antique and oil-era specialty
Tulsa's older collections often require careful, conservative repair work. We have the experience, the materials, and the patience that this kind of restoration demands.
Reweaving capability that local shops lack
Most rug shops do not perform full reweaving. We do, with our own craftsmen, in-house. Persian, Turkish, Caucasian, Chinese, Indian — every regional tradition.

Common questions about repair work.
Can you repair a hundred-year-old Persian rug?
Yes — regularly. Antique restoration is one of our specialties. Whether the rug needs reweaving, patching, color correction, or structural reinforcement of a deteriorating foundation, we approach the work conservatively to preserve as much of the original as possible.
What does rug reweaving cost in Tulsa?
Reweaving is priced per square inch and depends on the construction (knots per square inch), the wool or silk grade, and pattern complexity. We provide a free written estimate after inspecting the rug. There is no obligation to proceed.
Do you appraise antique rugs as well?
Yes. We have certified appraisers on staff. Many Tulsa clients pair appraisal with repair, particularly for insurance, estate planning, or before sale.
How long is the repair process?
Simple binding or fringe work: one to two weeks. Reweaving, patching, color correction: three to six weeks. We always give a specific window in your written estimate.
Where do you actually do the repair work?
All repair is performed in our Memphis workshop by our own craftsmen. We pick up in Tulsa, transport, repair, and return. Nothing is sub-contracted or shipped elsewhere.
