Accredited member of the Better Business Bureau, Memphis chapter.
Nashville's growth has brought thousands of new homeowners with serious rug collections to Middle Tennessee. Many bring inherited and antique pieces that need expert repair work — work that local cleaners and chain operations simply do not perform. Fred Remmers Rug Cleaners has been doing oriental rug repair since 1881, and we are now the established choice for repair work throughout the Nashville metro.
Repair is a different craft from cleaning. It requires the right wool and silk in the right colors, knowledge of regional weaving traditions (Persian, Caucasian, Turkish, Tibetan, Chinese), and the patience to hand-restore a damaged area so seamlessly that an appraiser cannot tell the difference. Our four generations of training is exactly what this work demands.
We service every kind of repair: full reweaving, patching for tears and burns, binding and serging for worn edges, overcasting for damaged fringes, and touch-up dyeing for faded or run colors. Free pick-up throughout Nashville, Brentwood, Franklin, Hendersonville, Mount Juliet, and the surrounding counties — written estimate before any work begins.
Hand repair for Middle Tennessee rugs.
Nashville's rapid growth has brought thousands of rug collections into Middle Tennessee — many of them heirlooms that haven't been cared for in years. We repair worn fringes, moth damage, unraveling edges, and holes on rugs from the historic estates of Belle Meade and Forest Hills to newer homes in Franklin, Brentwood, and Mount Juliet, reweaving each by hand so the repair blends into the original weave.
Free pick-up and delivery runs throughout Davidson, Williamson, Sumner, Wilson, and Rutherford counties, so a fragile antique never has to be dropped off or shipped. Whether it's a treasured Persian near Radnor Lake or a kilim in Germantown, call (615) 730-8515 and we'll take a careful look before any work begins.
Why Nashville trusts Fred Remmers for repair.
Specialists in antique and heirloom rugs
The repair work many of Nashville's high-end collectors bring us is exactly what we do best. Persian, Turkish, Caucasian, Indian, Tibetan, Chinese antiques — all welcome.
Hand-finished, never outsourced
Most rug shops sub-contract repair work or do not offer it at all. Every repair we accept is performed in our own workshop, by our own craftsmen, under our own quality control.

Common questions about repair work.
Can you repair a rug brought from out of state?
Absolutely. Many Nashville transplants bring family heirlooms or pieces from previous homes. We have repaired rugs from every major weaving tradition (Persian, Turkish, Caucasian, Indian, Tibetan, Chinese, Pakistani, Afghani) and from estate collections all over the country.
How much does rug reweaving cost?
Reweaving is priced per square inch and depends on the construction (knots per square inch), wool grade, and pattern complexity. We provide a free written estimate after inspecting the rug. Small-area reweaving typically runs from a few hundred dollars; larger restoration is always quoted in writing first.
How long does repair take in Nashville?
Simple work like binding, fringe replacement, or edge serging takes one to two weeks. Reweaving and color correction typically take three to six weeks depending on scope. We give you a specific completion window in your written estimate.
Do you appraise rugs as well as repair them?
Yes. We have certified appraisers on staff and can document your rug's value before and after repair. Many clients pair appraisal with repair for insurance or estate-planning purposes.
Where is the actual repair work performed?
All repairs are performed in our Memphis workshop by our own craftsmen. We pick up in Nashville, transport carefully, repair, and return. Nothing is shipped elsewhere or sub-contracted.
